Most law firm websites are already built on the WordPress platform. If yours isn’t then I strongly recommend that you give it some consideration. In addition to the great plugins that I will detail below, there are several other advantages to using a WordPress powered website for your law firm marketing such as real time updates, a variety of support options and ease of use.
I’ll assume that you are already using WordPress for your website. While WordPress has a lot of great core features (e.g., permalinks, comments, etc) there are several plugins out there that increase the functionality and effectiveness of your WordPress based site for marketing.
Here are my top 5:
Sites today should be dynamic and engaging. One of the ways you can keep site visitors coming back to your site is by creating a discussion around the content that you are generating for you site. You can do this by allowing people to comment on your blog. The trouble with using the WordPress comment feature is spam. There are tons of hack “SEO Experts” on the internet that will use comments on your blog to try and generate backlinks and awareness. Disqus is a plugin that helps filter out spam and creates a great way for people to comment and reply to one another on your blog. Many of the most popular blogs have adopted it for their content and you consider the same.

One of the measures of a good website is how “sticky” it is. Stickiness is what digital marketers call metrics like average page views per visit, time on site, time on page and more. Since you spend a lot of time on content, you want your site to be as sticky as possible. One of the easiest ways you can do this is to simply add a plugin that auto suggests other blog posts on your site that are related to the content they are currently viewing. This suggested content will be added to the bottom of your blog post and helps motivate the reader to discover more content on your site.

Because of this you want to make sure that you make it as easy as possible for your site visitors to share the content with others on their preferred social media channel. It also has additional monetization features like affiliate links and promoted content and also plays nice with the Yoast SEO plugin.

vCita Online Calendaring Tool
People are not likely going to be researching family law or criminal attorneys from their work computers during business hours. In fact many people prefer to search for attorneys in the evening times. The problem is that your law firm is closed during those evening times and if the prospect wants to reach you, they will likely get only your voicemail. vCita solves this problem for you by providing your prospect with an ability to choose an available time to schedule a consultation with you online 24 hours a day. You can see an example of how this works here: www.christopherbjohnson.com. Additionally, you can require prospects to pay for consultations right through the web app prior to coming in. This is a paid service. However, we have an agency account and can offer discounts for those that are interested. We use this for 80% of our clients and are big fans.
